Like IC2 only being hosted at industrial-craft.net? Although modpacks kinda avoided that before, but since the FTB ones don't have it in, it's getting higher downloads again

I'm proud that my first-released mod has 750+ downloads, especially since it was from modjam where I made it about a day :p
I don't think the number means much to me though, it doesn't feel like much to get 34 (American) cents from adfly. I can buy a piece of bubble gum though :p
-
It's just that money in any amount can make people greedy. and also adfly has been stuffed with viruses from day one. And also it's pretty dumb that people try to squeeze money out of their hobby. KingLemming said to eloraam that she shouldn't bring legality into mods because it stops it being a hobby, for me it's the same with money (even the few cents you get from adfly)
And as you just said xbony, it doesn't really mean much, so it just confuses me that some modders care so much.
-
In Elo's case, it kinda moved from being a hobby to a passion/addiction. But anything you can get addicted to has bad consequences
-
^heh.
Anyway, I guess i'm just being an old biddy or something. I came from a time when people didn't judge your mod based on your api or whether it's opensource, but rather if your mod was actually good. And mods were considered bad not if they were grindy/tedious/overcomplex, but instead if they were just another fucking obsidian tools mod

What is RF?
-
I actually can't tell if you're joking or not...
Anyway, RF (Redstone Flux) is another power system, created by Thermal Expansion and its addons. It has been adopted by FTB packs, basically ditching EU, MJ, J (UE) and any other tech mod power system. This means no IC2, Buildcraft and Universal Electricity on their official packs. "Just because jaded said so".
-
So, RF are there any other issues in using it than having to put the "wires" and maybe storing power? Any challenge? (Havent played with mods seriously since 1.2 i think)
-
No, it is extremely easy to use and idiot proof. It can not be considered electricity either, its more like a fluid that moves around to wherever it is needed. Losses, explosions or anything else that makes power fun to handle with is non existant.
-
Explains why its used then
-
Because of its extreme simplicity. Generate power here and use it there, no fuzzling to get it where you want.
-
The only "hard" thing with RF is supplying enough to machines with just TE conduits, since the leadstone ones are pretty rubbish. The issues arise when you have other mods using RF adding cheap cables that can transfer large amounts. Then RF has nothing hard to think about at all.

Don't forget about being able to teleport energy with tesseracts. Dirt-cheap way of powering stuff anywhere in the world.
For a while I used to use TE item+power tesseracts on quarries. Three blocks was all that was needed to build a "mining base".

You know what's better than RF forestry?
Everything Forestry

I legitimately did not know what RF is...but it sounds pleebish.
